Balance restored in the Land of Smiles

THAILAND | Thursday, 15 May 2014 | Views [237] | Scholarship Entry

The first time I traveled to the North of Thailand I fell in love. Not with a person, but with the people, the culture, the way of life. I have been fortunate to travel to a number of countries but there was just something about Thailand that drew me in, that soothed my soul, that whispered words of wisdom. In short, I found my balance. I remember seeing the monks early in the morning, walking with such serenity and purpose. It reminded of the simple things in life. The beautiful moments that we so often take for granted. The lantern festival in Chiang Mai similarly brought me to a place of gratitude. Seeing the night sky lit up by thousands of burning lanterns, or blessings as the Thai believe, allowed me to catch my breath, and release my blessing to the world. It was moments like these that deeply moved me. It was in these moments that my sense of wonder was ignited, my curious mind inspired and my heart touched. I will forever be grateful for the ways in which Thailand changed me. For the ways in which Thailand taught me to explore with abandon
