My Scholarship entry - Vamos a la Playa

One of the most important lessons that I have learned in life is that the best way to fully understand something is to experience it. I could sit in a community college photography class for 3 hours a day 1 day a week and learn about photography or I could go out and take pictures myself and learn through trial and error. I currently am not attending school because I feel the best way for me to learn about taking photos and video is to go out and do it. I recently just returned from my second trip to Puerto Rico and there is nothing that I love more than traveling and experiencing new places, people, and food. Being in a new country allows you to experience culture shock, in the best ways imaginable. Outside of the States, people are surprisingly friendly, they make delicious food, and sometimes have the strangest animals as house pets. My favorite part about all of this is having my camera right there with me to capture the most magical moments. I am the perfect candidate for this scholarship because this trip is about self-education through means of traveling the world and seeing it in a new way. I would be an essential part of the group and I would be honored to experience this.
