Oddly I'll start with a crazy situation I gotmyself into at dinner last night. It was the age old, do I try something unknown or familiar from the menu: unknown makes for more excitement, so that was what I went for. my oh my, never in your wildest dreams could you have thought up such a tortuous meal. For entree I ended up with a cold baby octopus soup, with at least 8 of the golf ball sized critters in there, see example above. I contemplated doing a mr bean and hiding them somewhere or in my handbag but in the end managed to down six.
This morning started off well, Friday 13 though, should have been prepared. Went to my local for coffee, spoke in French and booked a table for tonight- all going peachy. Had some breakfast then went out shopping, love the shopping here: leather handbag from Zara, 50 euro! I noted for today's French fashion tip that very long scaves are the thing to be wrapped in this winter, they are so long it's going to be hard to walk, but worth it- so just wear one but mind ur step.
Also saw my chess playing homeless man, he's in today's album for your viewing pleasure, with his two kittens on leashes, poor little mites, maybe I should play him for his kittens then give them away to a good home...
But then black Friday kicked in and I noticed my throat was closing up and I was getting short of breath and wheezing, not sure what is was but went to see a chemist who called me a local Dr and he said I'd probably had an allergic reaction to strawberries. I rang quite a few Drs who spoke no English before I found him through the angelic chemist lady, lucky break!
Tonight I'm at my local across the road, which is a bit of a Lyon legend, for dinner called Le portager des Halles : http://www.lepotagerdeshalles.com/ I'm playing it 'safer' from now on- I at least want to know what I'm getting even if it is an unusual delicacy... I do still have a lot of those to go here snails, frogs legs...the list goes on :)
