My Scholarship entry - Granada
Spain | Saturday, November 22, 2014 | 5 photos
My name is Camilo Vergara, I was born in Bogotá Colombia and I moved to the United States when I was 13. At the moment, I am studying abroad in Spain and I get to travel all around Europe. Overall, I have been traveling more these past two years than ever in the past. All the opportunities I have been given throughout my life to explore and to broaden my perspectives, combined with my immigrant background and my innate attraction to art, have built the photographer I am today. I see photography as a means to express what I cannot express with words. Through my photos I attempt to tell factual stories that are charged with metaphors. To me, a photograph is a way to show reality but that also gives anyone the space for interpretation and fantasy.
I should be chosen because I would like to have the opportunity to continue my journey as a traveller and as a photographer in the continent where I have my roots. I am also eager to learn more techniques as well as to share my perspective and my own way of capturing images.
