My passion for travel photography goes hand in hand with my love for travel. I've always sought to push the boundaries and venture to places to capture that decisive image in my travels. For me photography is all about pushing yourself mentally and physically...whether it means getting up at the crack of dawn or hiking up 5000 metres, it's all about the experience of getting there and getting that great image.
My set of photographs were recently taken during my travels through Peru and Bolivia. One of the things I took from South America was how religion is such a fundemental part of the culture and day to day life there. I happened to come across this procession, which I thought represented what a community, certainly a South American one represents. I loved the way everyone was involved, from the Priests to local children playing in the band. That's why I feel my photo's reflect a story of day to day life in Cusco and the important role that religion plays in that.
I feel my photography is at a junction whereby I've taught myself as
much as I can after consulting texts and being inspired by other
photographers such as Henri Cartier Bresson and Ansel Adams. I feel a World Nomad scholarship would help me develop further to get to the next level and give me a good foundation to then go forward with my photography.
