I am a twenty something teacher from the Philippines. Photography has been a hobby for me since college. Throughout the years, I’ve researched and tried to learn some techniques on my own in the net. A few years ago, I’ve started sharing some of my photos to my students and used them as part of my instructional materials. This inspired me to further improve my skills in taking pictures somewhat reuniting my passion for education and photography.

When I show my photos to my students, I can’t help but feel that I am not simply showing them the beauty of the world but also sharing with them how I see the world through my lens. I consider this a very unique position for I am giving them a visual window to the world through my pictures and experiences. This for me is a privilege that not many teachers enjoy.

I believe that I should be chosen for this scholarship because I know that I have much to learn and share from this experience. This would not only teach me how to be a good photographer but also make me a better teacher. An opportunity like this would allow me show my students what is to be their past and hope that in doing so would give them a better vision of the future.
