Hurricane Irene extension

With the train booked from Miami to Washington DC on 2nd September, it was time to have some further fun in Florida, so we headed West once more to the Gulf of Mexico and Captiva Island, where Abi last visited 28 years ago!  We have been greeted by wild beaches with frequent spottings of the Giant Ibis, Osprey and Pelican as well as Manatees in the Harbour alongside some great family friendly facilities (very fast water slides and extensive sweet shops!).  The only downside has been a lot of rain and the 'no see ums', mini mossies which really get you! Tomorrow off to Boca Raton, before the train North....
