Hungary's Statue of Liberty on Gellert Hill

Day 2 - After my rather negative impressions of Budapest, it's hard to be impressed when all you want to do is crawl into a warm bed & sleep, I'm slowly warming to the place. Not literealy, it's pretty cold today, it even snowed a little whilst walking back from breakfast this morning. But hey, that's partly the reason I've come over here in winter. Heading up to city park baths this afternoon.

Day 3 - Yesterday I said fairwell to the last of the original "CK 6" the "Wacky Duo" Johnny and Nick (the Brits). We did it in style, at the City park baths, which were amazing, bloody cold when you get out though ! I've taken it easy today, giving myself a chance to get back to 100% before moving on again.

Day 4 - What an awesome day I've just had ! Decided to take a "hop on/hop off" tour bus around the city. OK, I believe the tales of other travelers now :-) Budapest is beautiful ! Had close to perfect weather, the photos will prove that. The views from the Castle district & Gellert Hill were excellent, after a lovely treelined strole down the hill, I went to the Gellert Hotel thermal baths & relaxed for a few hours. These were so much nicer than the city park ones I went to the other day. I've got the buses & trams sussed now & got back to the hostel rested & feelin fine. Took myself out for a traditional Goulash dinner which was pretty good, a bit bland for my curry & chilli obsessed palate though.

Alas it's time to move on. I've got a 8.00am train to catch in the morning to Zargreb, the capitol of Croatia. Another stamp for the passport comin up :-)

Good to hear you encouraged the Brits to have a bath before you said farewell. Expect you'll make new friends soon. Great to be able to read where you are and what you're doing almost instantly.

Hows the language barrier going? Using your phaise book heaps i hope? For some cheap fresh fruit n veg try the indoor markets in Pest. The're over the bridge "opp the baths" and to the left. Cool food places along there also. In the same street as the Opera House (just before it) is a cool music shop and that area of town seems to be where heaps of bands play in local bars.
Cheers Steve
