My Scholarship entry - An African Experience

I'm 16 years old and living in Wellington, New Zealand; who, like most 16 year olds, is studying at school. However, one of my chosen subjects at school this year has been photography and I recently received an award for first in subject for my year group and it has definitely been my most enjoyable class thus far. I've always had an interest in both photography and travel and have been lucky enough to have parents who share the same passion for travel; meaning that I would class myself as an experienced traveller. I know there may be skepticism about my age and therefore capability but I'd like to think that my younger age would bring a refreshing perspective to this opportunity than that of an older person. I feel as if I would definitely maximise every opportunity given to me if I were to be chosen due to my willingness, eagerness and capability to capture beautiful photos. As well as travel photography, travel journalism is something that I've always been keen on pursuing as the two together encompass my main talents/interests; photography and travel (as already mentioned) but also writing, which would mean bringing and using another skill set to/on such a trip.
