Temples in Taiwan

My Photo Scholarship 2011 Entry

Early morning sun begins to envelop the intricate roof of the Yuanguang Temple, located on Shitoushan (Lion’s Head Mountain) in Northern Taiwan. This style of ceramic three dimensional roof mosaic is unique to Taiwanese temples, and is created both for purely aesthetic purposes as well as a way to present the blessings and teachings of Buddhism and Taoism to temple visitors.
