I have graduated from Radford College in Canberra. I have been the student photographer for my school for 2 years and I have taken photo's of carnival's, productions and I went to Timor Leste in June for an awareness/ community project that involved going into a rural school's in the Timor mountains teaching, our teaches would also teach their teaches about how to utilise their environment and run workshops. I documented the whole 2 weeks, taking photo's of the school and the locals. When I started taking the photo's I would force the moment instead of letting them happen. I had to learn from my teaches that I needed to step back and appreciate the moments for what they were. It was hard, but my photography became better and I believe if I was given this opportunity I would learn so much more about it. I believe I have a sound understanding of the technical side of photography but the concept work I do need improvement on. I still need to learn how to appreciate the moments, step back and be more part of the environment, rather then a stand out. I believe this scholarship could help me achieve this and give me a better understanding or travel photography.
