Hello, Fellow Travelers!
We're the Cardwells, Rich, Sara and our Faithful Companion and World-Class (Chow) Hound, Chica.
We live in Fruita, a small town in Western Colorado out by the Utah border. We're known as Fruitians or Fruitons, and, occasionally, other less flattering names...
We love it here! The climate, while ferociously hot June through August, is, for the most part, unbeatable. We're outdoors as much as possible; road biking, hiking, skiing, backpacking - we love it all and have it all here.
The only thing we don't have right out our front door is the ocean...we love the ocean. One of our premier passions is sea kayaking; we've done sea kayaking expeditions in the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior, off the coast of Belize along the barrier reef and circumnavigated Espiritu Santo (the large island 4 miles east of La Paz in Baja Sur)counter clockwise along the east coast, up and around Isla Partida and down the west coast. The best jobs of our lives were the four summers we spent teaching coastal kayaking at Rutabaga, a major paddling sports shop in Madison WI.
We're retired, both Rich and I. So now we're planning on doing some serious adventuring and explorations in other parts of the world. We'll be going down to San Carlos MX in January; we'd like to go back and bike Ireland's Connemara peninsula and we're tentatively planning a bike tour in Tuscany in 2007 - we've so much to look forward to!
