My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

What started as a hobby has become a passion in me that I want to pursue as a career. I imagine this is the way most photographers start. I am an actor, traveller, aspiring banjo-player, and waitress. I dabble in many things, but it seems photography is the one thing that is a constant in my life. No matter where I am or what I do, my camera is with me documenting my life. For the future, I’d like to document others. I am drawn to portraits and infrastructure. I love photos of beautiful places, real people, different environments and lots of color. Sometimes I feel a landscape is enhanced by having a person in it, comparing the boundless land to our humble presence.
I have been shadowing a portrait photographer friend for the past few months and my passion continues to grow. I believe the best way to learn is to do.
My experience ranges from my fellow actor’s head shots and self-created fashion shoots to documenting backpacking trips around the world. I am slowly saving up to purchase a better camera but I know it’s not the technology that matters. I have done a lot with my little rebel that I am very proud of. And I look forward to what I will shoot next.
