America Along the Gulf

I want to travel from the bottom point of Texas, all along the coast of the US until I can't go any further in Key West, Florida, at the end of the Overseas Highway. There are many big and popular cities along the gulf, but there are also many that never get talked about. How does the culture change along this coastal route, as it passes through five different states? What are the culinary secret spots in the small creole towns at the bottom of Louisiana? How has the past shaped these places? What do people do for fun at the thousands of beaches along the way? With relations becoming ever-better between the US and Cuba, I believe now is a great time to explore this area, with its blend of American, French, Spanish, and Caribbean culture.
