My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Firstly, let me say that I am an absolute panoramic photography nut. It has now been a long time (months and months) since I last "snapped" a normal photo. Each photo takes ~10 minutes, setting up the tripod, pano-head and camera. Seven RAW files later and time on the laptop, and whamo!, a seamless pano's of the places I love and visit is born. Funnily enough I am an ex-pat South African, but have since lived in New Zealand (Napier), Sydney and now Western Australia. The set of photo's attached here are from a favorite route of mine; the "Indian Ocean Drive", which heads North from Perth towards the world famous Pinnacles and Jurien Bay. Doing this trip in October is best. Great weather, scenary and (yes) some good, moody skies.
I am almost 40 (old'ish) and my single regret is that I only discovered photography so late. I would give up many things (big things) to have been a professional, respected photographer with a small gallery in Fremantle (across the road from some great coffee shop) showing my framed works and some books. The three people who most inspire me are (in order of importance) Ken Duncan (it is unfair that he is sooo good), Ansel Adams (his books and prints are superb) and Jeff Bridges (look here http://www.jeffbridges.com/photojan10a.html). Jeff's work is not technically as perfect as the other two, but the stories he tells with his old Widelux struck a cord with me.
More on the photos in the next step....Cheers, Brendon.
