People love reading about traveling experiences. I am an example of someone who is a big fan of adventurous blogs and TV shows that shows experiences in unusual places. I have the feeling that reading and watching such programs transport readers and TV viewers to those specific realities, as if they could be there their own. What better way to report on such vivacious life-time opportunity then writing a journal and shooting seighteeing views about it? The answer is a two-weeks road trip in the U.S. provided by World Nomads.
Writing. Here is a word that for many it is just a hobby or a free time activity. For me, even not knowing as a child, I wanted to live my life doing everything that the concept involved. It was not until I was 17 years old that I heard of journalism.
Outlining ideas, selecting vocabulary and information, organizing sentences, paragraphs and structures. I loved all about the process and it was rewarding to have people reading my stories. It took me some time, but my conscious always knew that being a journalist was the perfect fit for me.
When I graduated, back in 2007, I decided to take a step forward and embrace an abroad experience. I took a summer course and it was a life-time experience. I was finally reaching the independence I have always dreamed of but did not have the courage to fight for.
I returned to Brazil determined to find a journalism degree in the United States. In 2009, after applying for a program at Lindenwood University, in Saint Charles, MO, I was finally accepted into a M.A. in Interdisciplinary Communications, with an emphasis on Journalism.
During my summer vacation, while as a Lindenwood student, I learned how the publishing process worked from the beginning. I took turns following reporters and learning different writing and covering techniques. I even had the chance to write my own story.
Saint Charles, a small town city represented a tornado in my journalism life. It was the place where I gave birth to my stories and started to write my name in the newspapers path. It is a community where you make life-longing friends, witness traditional culture, taste delicious food and enjoy parties everywhere. It was the place I started writing my very first traveling experience blog abroad.
This tiny city is a place you want to return, revisit, revive, rediscover. It's home of Louis and Clark and it has a piece of my heart.
