My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
India | Thursday, October 7, 2010 | 5 photos
It is a miraculous thing to travel. To see the world and its people through a new set of eyes. I have always had an urge to be somewhere else. To observe and interact with new people and places. At 20 years of age I found myself in London working as a bicycle messenger. From the money I saved pushing countless miles in the saddle I made the trip to India.
These images are taken from my journey from Delhi to the Annapurna Range in Nepal and a few place in between. Traveling alone a 20 year old girl I found myself wandering among place that seemed strange and unknown. Taking risks that resulted in learing much about the people I met and the places I encountered.
My Images were taken over a three month period in places from delhi to kashmir then up in to the Annapurna range. The photos consist of a lone man on a silent lake, the irresistible laughter of a inn keeper high in the mountains, a house high up in carefully tilled stunningly green plains, a conversation through a glassless window, and an ornery buffalo. For each moment for this nearly three month journey something new caught my eyes. I wish I could have captured every grinning face and every expansive view but these five photos do a pretty good job of summing up those months.
My dream is to one day be a traveling photographer and experience the world as a new and intriguing place every day.
