    Squirrel monkeys are the rarest of the four monkey species found in Central America. Living in large troops they can often be seen running and chirping through the trees in a mass of commotion. Continued protection of the Corcovado National Park and the surrounding forest is required to maintain a healthy habitat for these and many other species of large mammals. Corcovado National Park has contributed significantly to my love of wildlife photography. After travelling through much of Central America, Corcovado sits as a pinnacle of biodiversity, revealing what much of the rainforest regions of Central America may have looked like prior to human interference. by: bradleyjtsmith Views[646] Even the little things are exquisite in Corcovado National Park. A juvenile Basilisk lizard peeps over this palm frond in the early evening. Using my tripod, I was able to take this photograph in rather poor light. by: bradleyjtsmith Views[419] A spider monkey snatches a wild banana while hanging upside down. All four species of Central American monkeys can be seen in Corcovado, which include the Howler Monkey, White-faced Capuchin and the rare Squirrel Monkey (or mono titi) This sighting brings back great memories of my time in Corcovado. As I was taking this photograph, a group of around 30 mother and juvenile coati-mundis were foraging around my feet. Unfazed by my presence they continued their foraging while I continued to snap photographs. by: bradleyjtsmith Views[1351] The lifeblood of the rainforest. A thunderstorm approaches the Corcovado National Park, bringing with it rains that allow the amazing biodiversity to flourish here. by: bradleyjtsmith Views[962] A pair of Scarlet Macaws seen screeching over the waves in the Corcovado National Park. Virtually wiped out from the rest of Central America the Scarlet Macaws, which mate for life, are so common in and around Corcovado they could almost be called a nuisance. They epitomise the beauty of the National Park; a bird so rare in other locations can be so abundant and obvious in Corcovado. No wonder the park was named
