My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

India | Monday, July 8, 2013 | flickr photos

My love affair with photography began at the age of twenty one, when my dad bought me a Vivitar 3800N, and yes this dates back to the days of roll film (I find it really tragic that roll films have become obsolete). Raised in the lush greens of North East India, I was fascinated by landscapes, especially the silhouetted views. Diverse cultures across the Indian sub continent got me drawn towards human subjects. I never had an opportunity to pursue photography professionally, and my passion lapsed into retreat with the onslaught of DLSRs. About a year back, I got myself a Nikon D5100, and started out as an amateur photographer again. I am still intimidated by the ever evolving world of digital photography, but that hasn’t deterred me from stepping out and capturing beautiful moments. During a visit to my home town (North Lakhimpur, Assam) I discovered my knack for photography seriously considered pursuing it. Ever since, I have been looking for mentors to guide me in going ahead with this cherished aspiration. When I chanced upon the 2013 Travel Photography Scholarship to Greenland, I literally jumped and knew what I had to do. Hence, this note to the judging panel.
