WORLDWIDE | Thursday, 26 May 2011 | Views [6137] | Comments [27] | Scholarship Entry

I have always tried to learn more in the field of documentary filmmaking but unfortunately in Pakistan I don't get any good opportunity except at my college.I am working with a media based organization called Interactive Resource Centre and producing documentaries for advocacy purpose and for community screening to raise awareness on different social issues.People like the documentaries but I am quite sure that this scholarship will help me to know a new approach to documentary filmmaking and I will go one step forward in this field.
I will be able to get idea how documentary films are made in more professional way.We have got huge potential in Pakistan and variety of topics on which very good documentary films can be made. I just need is a platform where I should learn international approach and come back and play role to boost the documentary filmmaking here.
I hope this scholarship will open a new door for me to interact and get attention of international filmmakers towards Pakistan as well.

It is really tragic to know the story of this lady. There are many labors Pakistan like this. As a responsible citizen we need to focus such issues because these type of issues doesn't seem global but it is such a big violation of human rights.

i remember once as a student project we went to shoot a brick kiln at kasur which is just short of Lahore. The owner threaded us that if we will shoot video of the bonded labors he ll break our camera and even the admininstration could not do anything to him. The owners are poweful persons and some people in the local administration do support them which is shameful.

bonded labor is found in many sectors in different industries. It is more common in brick kilns, agriculture, bangle industry and many more. But as it is obvious that everyone has the right to live independently and everyone deserve liberty according to human rights charter.

I think international channels like national geographic have never focused on Pakistan and I have never seen any documentary about Pakistan Internationally. It can make change if international media play role and we can may hope for change.
