Water In The Desert

CHINA | Wednesday, 23 April 2008 | Views [318]

Water in the desert is always magical, whether it comes from the sky or flows from distant mountains.  The Yellow River cuts through Mojave-like mountains here between Zhongwei and Yinchuan.  The dwellings are Pueblo-style, but far less elaborate.

My feelings upon seeing the Yellow River the first time were of entering an ancient lost world, as I imagine I will feel when I first see the Amazon, or Nile.
