My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Greece | Thursday, January 3, 2013 | flickr photos

I moved to England in 2004 having spent 10 years growing up in Kathmandu. Through having to understand this bizarre British culture, I found myself wanting to know more about the world, and am fascinated by different cultures.
Before leaving Nepal, my family went trekking through the Himalayas to Everest base camp. I now find myself wishing that I had had a camera to capture how absolutely amazing the journey was.
As the memories of this trip and of my life in Nepal are a blur, it is difficult to convey my experiences to others about what life was like there. I think that this is a huge part of my passion for photography; wanting to remember each experience vividly, and being able to show others my experiences and my perspective.
I have always been a storyteller and an observant person. I especially love to pick out small and seemingly insignificant details of a trip and create a group of images that can be pieced together to convey the story of my experiences.
Over the past 3 years photography has become a huge part of my life, and working as a documentary photographer in the future would be an absolute dream. I by no means know all there is to know, but am so ready to learn!
