My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

United Kingdom | Monday, January 14, 2013 | 5 photos

I love to take pictures, born and raised in London, Hackney juxtaposed between negative stereotypes and gentrification my home represents the epitome of hidden splendour unhindered by the relationship between nature and concrete. I think it is important to highlight beauty in places where others may think there is none. The human experience and fascination with culture and how we define ourselves also drives me and for all I have seen and learnt, life changes continually without my consent and any opportunity to capture some of its most amazing tricks are gifts that I never take lightly. The changes from this so called digital revolution too have eluded me and my technical knowhow for the craft is still rooted in the dark rooms and chemical solutions which first developed my interest in photography as a media student in the 1990’s. Lots have changed except for my passion and I confess that I have much to learn as well as to give. This opportunity would not only provide the technical skills needed to bring me into the 21st century but also the assurance I need to confidently call myself a photographer, determined to exhibit the alternative.
