We are now in Freemantle for a few days. Got pissed last night in an irish bar in Perth which had a backpackers night with cheap booze. Lou discovered that cough mixture followed by Strongbow is a very good combination for getting totally rat arsed!
Moved onto our new hostel this morning which is called Sundancers backpackers in the centre of Freemantle. Having our first experience of sleeping in a dorm as we have only been in twin/double rooms so far. Sharing with a Canadian and an American who both seem nice. Still got some empty beds so who knows who else will turn up.
Did a tour of Freemantle prison today which involved being given a lovely boiler suit to put on, and being given a load of safety stuff to wear. Had to be breathlysed before we did it, and we were both a bit worried we might have alcohol in our systems from last night, but passed the test! Climbed 50 m down a dodgy ladder and then walked in the tunnels and water systems under the prison. Then had to get in little 2 person boats and row (or attempt to row) down the water courses. We got told off for laughing too much, although it was prob from fear more than enjoyment! The tour lasted about 3 hours and we were finally released from the prison with a certificate for doing the tour.
Going to spend an evening chilling out in the hostel getting to know some of the other travellers. Did try putting some photos on the blog but the computers are run from a central server so not got a USB port to plug the camera into.
