Ometepe Eden of Latin America
Today I woke up with a mission, to get to know one of the most emblematic places.
Early on I go to the bus terminal in Huembes Market seeking that transport unit that says Rivas once spotted know it's time to venture into the unknown, to the land that may well be part of the longed-for "world promised to the Jews.
While transported me to the place a song is heard through the speakers of the radio: " a place where the water tastes like shark volcano and placed its nest in freshwater " .... They refer to the place that our ancestors considered sacred
An island in the center of the lake shore three hours from the capital of Nicaragua , Managua . In this enigmatic place there is a perfect balance between water and fire. A mixture of culture , mysticism and extreme nature that you can go back in time and see how communities living in the past , protecting their ancestral way of life.
To get to this wonderful place you should take the ferry in the port of San Jorge in the department of Rivas, after crossing the freshwater sea famous as a lake with waves and water sharks sweet (unique in the world). After an hour away you get to South San Jose. From here begins the real adventure :
By the time you reach the island you meet with vendors and very colorful characters , Indians, whose body structure you will never forget , moreover , has the vision of one of the greatest blessings of the people .. Nicaraguans ... volcanoes.
Ometepe has an interesting way of "8". In its widest parts are two majestic volcanoes : " La Concepción " almost 2 km in height and " The Woods " , which is the favorite place for climbers , for its thick forests . The first volcano is currently active and has a perfect triangular shape, occasionally can witness the stunning expulsions of lava and ash ; Meanwhile, the second ( The Woods ) is inactive, however, has a pond inside glass decorated with a beautiful waterfall that attracts even the most apathetic.
I will never forget the day he first came to these majestic volcanoes , I must admit I felt a bit scared , it was just overwhelming. Arriving at the port you can take buses , minibuses and even the beasts for transport and therefore reach Moyogalpa or Altagracia , which are the major cities of the region where they can find food , water and a good place to sleep . The people are very friendly with visitors and you can always find bilingual guides who will show at a price under the best places in the area :
