My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I have always be a visual learner. Exposure to images of the sea at an early age, I was inspired to become a marine biologist, though I had never been to the sea. Images now guide my instruction as a biology teacher where I focus on communicating science and the living world to students through the lense of aesthetically composed images. Over the years I evolved from using other peoples images for biological storytelling to developing my own hobby in photography. Inspired primarily by the work of Annie Griffiths Belt and Nevada Weir , I bought my first dslr in 2009. Since then, I have taken several photography courses and have grown more and more passionate about finding and documenting the world around me as I have explored the studied caves in Mexico, temples in Nepal, and rice paddies in Bali. My natural curiosity and love of life inspires me to see the world and to tell her story through captured images. What better way could there be to live? I am excited for the prospect of exploring both the culture of the Omani people and to examine the juxtaposition of deserts, mountains and ocean that converge in this peaceful Middle Eastern country.
