Iko, 52, the first miner in the family gathering the stones from the river, which will be filtered and sorted eventually according to their sizes.

A lahar-filled river, almost 21 years after Mt Pinatubo’s devastating eruption in 1991. Small volcanic stones continually flow with the river waters and serve as source of living for nearby residents.

Iko with his wife Tere are filtering and sorting the gathered stones. They are the founders of their humble volcanic stone mining family business, their main source for survival, which they’ve been doing for a decade now.
