My name is Bill. I was born and raised in Athens. I am 29 years old and I work as a survey engineer. I first realize that I was attracted to photography because I wanted to represent differently moments of the reality. Back when I was a student a friend of mine owned a professional camera where I took my first shots and I was very enthusiastic about it, so I started trying to learn the basic steps of how to do it.

When I take pictures I love the fact that a picture can capture places, faces, feelings, energies and many more. Through the photography you can draw information and this is the dynamic of an image.

The primary source of inspiration is of course trips… Having travelled I can certainly tell that the alternations of the images is something magic, something that makes me wanting to capture it and gives me a sense of freedom, creation and making art.

The following five images are parts of a trip in Amsterdam.

Nowadays the situation in Greece is very difficult due to the economic crisis resulting in increased unemployment, few opportunities and not so many scholarships. My dream is to be able to work as a photo reporter and I will surely improve my skills through this program especially by work together and learn from a National Geographic Photographer. I would be very grateful to be part of this experience and be able to explore South Africa.
