My Scholarship entry - Biking expedition into the Ruahines
New Zealand | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos
I'm a 19 year old photographer from Napier, New Zealand. My love for photography started with dad's cameras, I'd use them to capture landscapes and sports that I liked. Up until April, I was at University studying Medicine. I thought that it was what I wanted to do in life, but as it went on, I realised I didn't have the passion for all it entails. I've been into biking for 7 years, and started to pay attention to amazing photographs of places to ride all over the world, all of the bright cultures and locations. I decided to leave, and bought a Canon 70D, which I still use. I've always wanted to travel the world, I've been to the UK and Australia, but they aren't too different from New Zealand. I wanted to see places and cultures that aren't hugely influenced by Western culture, and the wildlife these places have, which are greatly different to anything I have seen here. As I've gotten further into photography, I've realised that there are so many interesting things to experience, some of them are a once in a lifetime opportunity. Travelling to the Amazon would be one of those opportunities. It would also give me insight into the direction of my life, and skills to take with me.
