My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

I think that travelling to places outside of the square you live in is the best education anyone can get! Seeing and experiencing other cultures is so eye opening and can provide some amazing adventures! I hope to get chosen for this scholarship because travel, exploring, people, art, photography and the outdoors are some of my biggest passions and I jump at any chance to go on an adventure! I have travelled a lot, but have never been to Bhutan and I would LOVE to experience the culture there. I am a photography student at SA School of Art (University of South Australia).
The photos I've submitted tell a story of my trip to Central Australia in winter of this year. The purpose of the trip was to see more of this beautiful country we live in, and also to expose us (a group of 12) to the culture of an Indigenous community. We spent 4 nights camped out on a property 20 or so kilometres out of Alice Springs, which belonged to an Aboriginal man we had contact with named Kenny, and he took time to share his culture with us; teaching us how to cook kangaroo tails, make clapping sticks and just being in community with us, telling us about his culture and history. It was an incredible time of learning and enjoying fellowship with him and the group. We continued our trip by going through the the bottom corner of Queensland, camping somewhere different each night as we made our way closer to home (South Australia). During this time we enjoyed seeing different landscapes, and many different species of wildlife. This trip was a stand out trip because I've been to many other countries, but there is so much to see and experience in my own country, which is so big, that it's so exciting to finally have been able to get out and enjoy one more part of it!!!
note: none of my photos have been edited in any way, shape or form.
