Beijing, China

CHINA | Tuesday, 9 October 2012 | Views [524] | Comments [1]

We've spent several days in Beijing. It is so polluted that you can't see very far due to the smog. It also takes a LONG time to get anywhere In the city. We saw the Forbidden  City and Temple of Heaven, which was beautiful. Yesterday was all business as dad had to exchange money T the bank, which is an altogether way too long process in China and I had to go to the Vietnam embassy to apply for my visa. It was closed when we got their so we had to wait about an hour and a half until it reopened. Then I realized that I forgot to being a passport picture! end it takes 2.5 hours plus just to get there from the orphanage so I couldn't go back! Nothing is ever simple in China! But I was told that I can bring my photo when I pick up my visa, so it wasn't a completely wasted trip. It takes. Whole day just to errata couple errands in Beijing! So we haven't been able to do too much to help at the orphanage. The kids are so healthy here! But I met a guy who rundruns foster homes in southern China who could use my help, so I'm excited about that!

So glad to read your posts. Hope your trip to southern China has been uneventful and that you can be of great help to the orphanage there.
