I can't believe we are travelling together again

WE HAVEN'T LEFT YET

It is the final week before we leave and I am trying to remember everything we need to do prior to our trip as well as prepare myself mentally for the rigors of day in day out travel with my wonderful husband.

The spare bed is covered with back packs, sleeping bags, travel clothes, and other important stuff!! Probably some vital stuff which Tony (husband) will declare totally unneccessary for me to carry at the last minute.

My desk is littered with lists, lists and more lists!!!I am in list heaven, finally a legitimate use for my PHD in list making!!

I am trying to be more organised than a person could possibly be, hoping that this will alleviate any stress along the way.I do however realise that this is not actually possible. I just want to be able to say when things go horribly wrong that "I did everything I could and that whatever it is it's not MY FAULT!"

The very word 'travel' sends excitement and fear in equal proportions to the best of travellers. Can we appropriately anticipate every possible situation? Can we avoid every possible disaster just by being organised?? I think not, but thorough preparation is better than none at all and of course you have covered your own personal butt!

If I cannot get through a normal day at work without some type of minor catastrophe ie. catching the wrong train to meet Tony after work, accepting a lift from a stranger who then takes me on a tour of the peninsula before dropping me at the correct station and leaving my keys in a coffee shop. What on earth makes me think that I can be relied upon to be organised enough to take on an 8 x week trip OS??

Therefore, stay tuned for the adventures and misadventures that Bernadette manages to drag her husband and unsuspecting fellow tourists into over the next month or two.

Please also remember when judging my competency in all this, that I am a 'menopausal woman' heading into EXTREME HEAT, and travelling with varying members of family along the way.

Planning on a holiday is highly overrated ... just relax and enjoy it ... go with the flow. :-)
