The Merchants of Mumbai

I am a 29-year old chemical researcher who calls India, California and Singapore home. I engage heavily in voluntourism and see compelling stories that need to be told. I aspire to develop a global platform with travel stories and photojournalism connecting places that need help to people who have solutions. Big dreams, baby steps.

Travel photography to me is all about capturing the mood of how it felt to be there at that moment. Innocent smiles of poor children and, landscapes of rolling hills and blue skies make for beautiful but boring pictures that best belong to brochures and screensavers, in my opinion. The purest form of travel photography is the one that appreciates beauty in imperfections, for the world is just that- grand yet flawed. I bring this unique perspective in the way I see things through my lens.

I realize there are two equally important aspects to photography- the art and the technique. While I can say with some confidence that I have the artistic part of it right, I could gratefully use the help of Jason’s professional guiding hand for understanding angles, settings and other cool physics.

Thanks for your time!
