Chattanooga National Cemetery

My Photo scholarship 2010 entry

Worldwide | Wednesday, October 6, 2010 | 4 photos

These photo's were taken on a trip to the nation's 2nd largest National cemetery on Memorial day 2010. A visit to find my great uncle's grave found me walking around the cemetery for hours just capturing images of the cemetery itself. Even followed a flock of geese around where I was able to capture an image resembling a goose "saluting" the American flag.
As for me, I started dabbling in photography several years ago and has now become quite addicting. Within the last few months I have tried to figure out the best way to "get paid" for this hobby of mine and haven't come to any real conclusions other than shoot, shoot, shoot. I have entered various photo competitions and contributed images for charity as a means to get my name out in the local community. It would be a great opportunity to assist as well as work beside a premier professional photographer in a setting such as Bhutan.
I would like to be chosen to learn under Mr. Edwards because it would afford me the opportunity to travel to an area that remains pristine in its culture, religion, history, and practically all that the Bhutanese covet as part of their culture. And not to mention the elusive snow leopard! Also, it would be interesting to see and observe the workflow of a professional photographer in the field. What type of preparation and planning goes into a week long field excursion in an unfamiliar country with what would seem like never ending distractions for a photographer. What is deserving of being made into an image and what isn't would be a primary distraction for me and getting advice in the field from a true professional would be a one of a kind experience that I would perceive invaluable in the event that my skills improve to the point of being sought after as a professional photographer.
