My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

For me personally, I would bend over backwards to get such a chance to work with not only national geographic, but with a photographer who captures the images which define the company.
My name is Ben, and I am an avid photographer. But honestly, it is only recently that I have started to take this seriously. I am from Australia and finished my final year of high school in 2011, spending a year last year to work out what it is I want to do. I've gone back and forth between journalist and veterinarian that my parents' brains are about to explode. I have spent time working with journalists and reporters for newsrooms and I have spent time cleaning up after wild animals in Taronga Zoo, Sydney. I wish to surround myself with the creativity of photojournalism and reporting but also make it about something worth telling. In seeing this competition on National Geographic this morning, I realised my chance.
I would cherish and lap up the chance to learn how to become someone who advocates for cultural and animal rights and balance through photography. I would love to tell the story of each image I capture. And I hope to be able to share that with the world.
