My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Photographs are memories that shape our lives. They capture a moment in time that stands still from that instant on. I know now at the age of 31, as I think I always have, that my career in IT will never bring the surge of excitement, passion and joy that picking up my camera does. I live for those moments, capturing life, beauty and nature in that one instant where it all comes together. I seek to view the world and create art in those elusive glimpses.
Photography for me is meditation. I am focused and in the moment. I study the location for the right composition, seek the light and look inward to see what moves me. I long to bring my audience on an adventure each time they view my images. I want to immerse them in the scene. I want them to see my point of view and feel a connection.
Through study and practice I seek to better myself as I continue to build my story-telling ability and understanding of this art form. The experiences, opportunities, insights and guidance I would gain from having Jason Edwards as my mentor would provide an amazing boost on the road to my professional career and life in photography. This would truly be a dream come true.
