About belchman
What is there to say about me that wont be explained in greater detail later on? I'm a typical post-modern post-industrial young man. Born when the Cold War was almost over, but seemed to be heating up, even though we knew it was a mistake. I love to drink and love to read the poetry of Pablo Neruda. I love the writings of Dostoevsky, Nietzsche and Marx, and the music of Sonic Youth, The Manic Street Preachers and Bob Dylan. I am a long list of cultural influences distilled into a mind at once world weary, vain, bored and egotistical. I represent the erudite, literate, self-consciously over-educated young people who have inherited a world that is broken, strange and always a lot of fun, a world made possible by the inequities and failures of a few men and women of questionable intelligence. I demand everything that was ever promised to me, because it is those promises that led to me being an already failed and tired man at 27. We've been given the world and told to make a new one from the broken rubble and twisted metal shards of the dispossessed, but the new world we have to make can only be made in the image of the old. So we've already failed.
