My Scholarship entry - My trip to the great Son Doong Caves of Vietnam

Vietnam | Sunday, November 23, 2014 | 5 photos

I am currently working as an engineer in Newcastle, UK and for me, photography is a major creative outlet. I started taking photos from the age of 15 and although I love it, I sometimes find myself lacking motivation. Travelling alleviates this and infuses me with renewed passion for this reporting/art form. I don't categorise myself into any particular genre of photography and I ensure that I have a medium of capture in hand at all times.

To me, an opportunity like this, offered by World Nomads under the guidance of a renowned National Geographic photographer, would allow me to enhance and grow my potential. An opportune mentorship is the right path for me to change my weaknesses (of story telling, post processing etc.) into strengths & this is what I would be looking to gain from this scholarship.

I think I should be chosen for this opportunity because I have an affinity towards forests, culture and travelling and a keen passion towards photography and writing to create positive change by reporting about the underlying core story in an interesting way. I believe that answering the question 'Why?' is important for storytelling and this scholarship will greatly help me with this.
