My Scholarship entry - The Akpait bird cliff on Baffin Island

When I was young, my father helped me process black & white film from my bellows camera using chemicals from his school. It was just snaps until my husband taught me macro photography of bees, a joint interest & fascination. I wanted to know more so took some classes but they didn’t give me the experience I desired. I caught the travel bug & since have visited the Arctic, Antarctic & countries in between, searching for & photographing wildlife. My greatest thrill is to observe animals, big & small, enjoy & ‘shoot’ them. I continually strive to learn all I can from anyone willing to help me. Working with Jason would be an unbelievable opportunity to fulfil my wildest dreams. I’m very determined & will readily give up comforts & work all hours necessary to achieve my goal. My photography has improved but that only makes me more aware of what I still need to learn. Working as a citizen scientist on a Namibian leopard conservation project gave me a whole new view of the natural world. I now plan to join a team gathering data on Sumatran tigers, working with local villagers for their protection. Photography is vital to conservation & education & I want to do more to spread the message.
