Puebla
I left Mexico city behind and jumped a bus to Puebla. Now I've been on a few buses in my time but this was luxurious! 2 reclining seats to myself with enough legroom for a giant. Free wifi onboard and even power outlets made for a very comfortable 2 hour ride to the colonial town if Puebla. On arrival I bought my taxi fare to downtown with Jorge the legend cabbie. So we are both smoking ciggies having a chat en route to hostel santo Domingo which is nice but has a shit load of rules for a hostel! Jorge said its safe around downtown just don't wear jewellery or a watch and just have a small amount of money on you.......thanks for the heads up Jorge! I'm now sitting in the zocalo eating tostadas and sipping on yet another Mexican beer, this ones called 'Indio' and is very nice. The little cafes and eateries all have a tv on with Spanish soap operas playing with a mariachi band in the background!
Hopped on an open top bus around the city but took the Spanish one by accident so I know absolutely nothing about what I saw! It's a very pretty town though and much bigger than I thought. The zocalo is beautiful and the people are very friendly. The churros I had after the bus trip were good but sadly not as good as the ones at the vic markets! Wondering the streets I ended up in the park square again when 3 cute little Mexican girls all of about the age of 12 asked me if I spoke English. When I told them I did, so they asked if they could ask me questions and film me as they are trying to learn English at school. So cute. Grabbed a margarita and chicken enchilada for dinner, not bad but my hunt continues for the best in Mexico. Back at the hostel after walking home through a creepy fair/plaza and I'm about to break the hostel rules of no grog by cracking a couple of cans of rum and coke. Scored the whole dorm to myself too which is a bonus for $10! Off to Oaxaca tomorrow which I believe is amaze-balls. Note to self after forgetting everyday........WEAR SUNSCREEN!
