It's been a while so i'll go back...
Before leaving Inia we made an expensive visit to see the taj mahal, it was well worth it, very beautiful although the inside wasn't very impressive. Delhi was extremely cold, there was as much poverty as in mumbai but was also mixed with expensive shops and restaurants.
finally we left india and arived in Bangkok. Huge contrast, the smells and the people, so much cleaner!
we stayed in Bangkok for a few days, very very very toursity compared with delhi and so much hotter. we stayed round the corniner from the famous khao san raod which is packed with tourists tattoo shop and as many neon sighs as physically possible. it made such a difference being able to walk around and not get hassled by all the sellers.
once we'd had our city fix and met up with Liam and Joe we then got an overnight coach a boat to the island nearest the main land: Koh Tao. we rented mopeds and drove around the island, amazed by the perfect white sand and clear sea, we found there wasnt much else to do so we moved on to the next island along, Koh Pha-ngan, the island famous for the full moon (and half moon and quater moon and black moon and whenever else) paries, knowing this we decided to stay away from the main tourst area, staying on a beach called Haad Yao. Our bungalows were right on the beach which was even more perfect than the last,we rented more bikes, went to more restaurants, and i had an opal ring made. we then moved on, arriving at Koh Samui, the biggest of the islands, the beaches here weren't as nice and accomdation very expensive, i think Koh samui would be an amazing place for a two week holiday as some of the villas are the nicest ive seen but not so good for travelling.
Me and Joe made our way back to the mainland up to Bangkok for 1 night, where we enjoyed a thai massage and a bit of shopping and cheap but good food before getting yet another coach to the north where we arrived in Chjiange mai at 6, yet another 3 hour bus a 8 in the morning took us over the mountains, none of the road was straight and i ending up feeling very tired and ick. it was well worth in though as Pai is lovely, mountains and fields everywhere and very relaxed. it reminds me of anjuna in the way that it's full of people that only meant to stay a few days and couldnt leave, lots of art galleries, yoga clases, crystal and healing shops. today we went pony trekking through the fields and rivers, not a building in sight, we hope to meet up with laim and sasha today and take part in a thai cooking course tomorrow or they day after. there are lots of interesting courses here at good prices. lots of vegetarian places to eat and lots of live jazz at night.
last night we lit a fire lanturn and watched it float away above the river.
will write in a few days.
