My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am a 32 year old Chef who has recently re-awakened a dormant passion for Photography. Despite owning film cameras since I was 8 years old I never pursued photography seriously until I downloaded a little iPhone app called Instagram.
Starting on iphone and now using a Nikon D7000 I have pushed and struggled and cried and above all learned about Photography. Waiting patiently for THE shot or being ready when the unexpected happens all bear the same result – elation. I’ve never been so sure of what I want to do and that’s a rare gift at my age.
I’m now the proud owner of the largest Australian Photographic stream on Instagram but that’s not what pushes me. It’s something inside, I want to create beauty. It drives me, to the point where my personal comfort no longer matters. Whether I’m shivering in the cold capturing star trails or waking bleary eyed at 3:30 AM for sunrise, when I get that wow shot it’s all worth it.
I feel like my lack of formal Photographic training gives me a fresh eye yet I yearn to learn more. I can’t explain it. All I know is, I think that I’m the person you’re looking for. I’m driven, humble, hard-working, fit & healthy and not a bad companion to boot.
