At long last, Carolina has retired, the kids are out of the house,and together we will finally take off on a 3 month adventure! Off to Italy we go on August 8th. One week of getting our bearing in Northern Italy, then over to Slovenia (Europe's "greenest" country) we go for a self-made 2 week road bike trip; just Carolina, myself, Simone (Carolina's pro-cyclist "day" husband), and Stefano, our van driver. We will cycle 3 regions of the country and will stay in 5 hotels. The northwest is the area of the beautiful Julian Alps. Lots of climbing mountain passes, pristine lakes and rivers. Then over to the NE wine district also chock full of hot springs. Then down to the SW, craggy mountains and coastal villages. When finished we drive into Croatia, the Dalmatian Islands and into Montenegro. Then, either down the coast through Albania into Greece or a boat back to Italy and eventually Sicily. Back up into Italy, Amalfi coast, Rome and other sites, and a boat over to Sardinia. Finally, who knows from there.... Stay tuned!
