Sugar cane fields close to the Jinja area. They have reached the Mabira forest, one of the few remaining primary and secondary forest in Uganda. In 2007 the local sugar cane factory had a plan to clear one-third of the forest in order to increase plantations. But thanks to the mobilization of the Ugandan this plan was suspended.
