Mucugê is a Brazilian city of Bahia state. Its estimated population in 2004 was 15 400 inhabitants. It has an area of 2491.82 square kilometers. The city of Mucugê is one of the oldest in the region of the Chapada Diamantina, founded at the end of the eighteenth century. The city was one of the main centers of gold and diamonds, as well as the famous city Lençóis.
