My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
USA | Tuesday, November 27, 2012 | 5 photos
Photography, for me, started out with flowers. Lots of flowers. Lots of macro shots of flowers. Lots of macro shots of anything, actually. I look back on those and make fun of myself now, but in those kinds of photos, I see the reason I'm attracted to this kind of work. It's the interest in finding details in every day life that may be unnoticed and exposing them.
Details are always a part of me. I'm currently a senior at Rutgers University, studying to be a graphic designer and it's just as much a detail-oriented field as photography. As well, both of these fields are very much grounded in technology. As I journeyed through university, I realized my conceptual identity. It is to create things through technology that has the ability to grab people and communicate at an emotional level, whether it's through unexpected imagery or exposing elements that may have gone unnoticed otherwise.
While I have great interest in photography, I have no training at all. I see this opportunity as a great learning experience, not just to improve technically and train my eye, but learn how to communicate effectively with a powerful image.
