This trip (about to begin) to France and Switzerland is because I'VE BEEN CHOSEN TO EXHIBIT IN SWITZERLAND!!
Sorry about the capitals but this is a VERY exciting experience for me as I have been an artist for 30 years, and though I've exhibited overseas before, it's not been quite like this experience. I found an email in my inbox about 6 weeks ago with an INVITATION (woops, more capitals) to send artwork to Lausanne for an International Drawing exhibition at the Place Suisse des Artes.
I've been to lots of countries in the past on self funded artistic jaunts and last year - my first time in France where I stayed for 6 weeks - I discovered such a love for the artistic vibe of France and SO appreciated the wonderful respect I received travelling as an artist from Australia. I found my home..... though I do have kids and grandkids here in Oz.
Liivng overseas in other cultures has been such a love of mine, though the most challenging was a trip to Jordan, Israel and Egypt on my own just after I turned 40...... I didn't live there as such, though before I left my heart was certainly tuned into a past life memory of having lived as a Sacred Prostitute in Mesopotamia......a very dramatic trip as you can imagine. But all of that will be in my book, when it's finally finished, after years of unravelling social and childhood conditioning, to get to the core of my being, or rather LOVE, since that is who I am essentially.
So more fun to be had I'm sure....and maybe I'll finally have a home of my own here in Oz after being footloose for 26 years.
