Currently I am still in Japan. I am running around trying to get everything ready to A: move from Japan and B: backpack for 7 months. I had a few set backs over the past few weeks.
1. I found out that my passport didn't have enough pages for all the travel visas I will need so I had to get a new one as Canada no longer just adds new pages. This caused me to have to delay my departure by 3 days.
2. I was told I couldn't get health insurance from Japan even though 3 weeks ago I was told it was ok.
3. Japan customs confiscated 5 months worth of the Malaria medicine my parents shipped to me from Canada.
4. A Japanese woman travelling alone was murdered very close to I am going to be staying for three months about a week ago. This resulted in some serious thinking on my part and also the resulting parental stress and questions like: "you are stupid for going on this trip"
5. I am one of the lucky 10% of people who has an allergic reaction to the rabies vaccine. After my second injection last week I developed a huge painful/ itchy bump on my arm....ewwwww....
But today things started to look up. I got my new passport, I got my last vaccination and my arm has not fallen off yet, I got health insurance, and I feel much more confident now. I write my GRE tomorrow and I feel alright about that. I just kind of want it to be over with. I am having a sayonara party with friends on Saturday in Yokohama. I am excited to be able to hang out and relax. Hurray! The stress is almost over.....6 more days to go!
