My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
Worldwide | Friday, August 6, 2010 | 5 photos
This series of 5 photos were taken in the mountainside of Belize. It was a very remote location where Ipods, phones, and flashing neon lights were non existent. This was a challenge for me because I am usually inspired by shocking architecture, bright lights, and outrageous people. Being in such an organic location was refreshing. In these photos, I feel as though I took what would have been a standard natural photography based trip, and focused in on the parts of Belizean culture that inspired me. I tried to capture the mystical essence of the jungle. I felt the way about the horses that I normally do about people. Each one had a unique attitude, mannerism, and way about them. It absolutely fascinated me.
I am a 20 year old photographer and fine artist who studies at the School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan. I consider my work an infatuation not a craft, I live it everyday. I am drawn to the unusual, shock value, color, and depth. I believe I have the ability to shoot any person, place, or thing in an extremely unique style that is completely represents of the person I am and the way in which I view the world. I feel as though I am a perfect candidate for the Travel Photography Scholarship because I am able to give a fresh perspective to anything I shoot. I strive to perfect the art of storytelling through my photos. You are welcome to view other works of mine at www.Austyntatious.com.
