I will never forget that day in Edinburgh. Was my first day and a friend once said to me that travel to Edinburgh was like being inside a Harry Potter’s movie. He was not exaggerating; being there was like walk around Diagon Alley.
When I decided include Edinburgh on my trip I did not plan anything, the only thing that I had in my mind was: I have to go until the top of Arthur’s Seat. And there was my first stop. Once on the foot of the hills I could not believe what I was seeing. The mix of architecture from the old town and all green from the hills is the kind of view that I did not imagine in the middle of a city.
According to the legend, the Arthur’s Seat is one of the possible locations of the old Camelot and is also a place where King Arthur and his companions are resting and waiting to defend Britain once again.
After admire the hills I started my journey to climb them. I said journey for the following reason: I am not a sportswoman. So, there I was, ready to climb the hill and praying to do not have an asthma attack. As I started to climb, the view from the city was getting better and better. The track was fine, was not that high and was quite easy, even for people like me who are not used to do exercises. After some point, the track got more inclined, but that was not a problem; with a stop once and a while, and I little ice tea to hydrate, I was ready to return the climb, without mention the fact that even elderly people were doing better than me, but that is another story.
Even when I was on my way the view was amazing, but the cherry of the cake was when I finally arrived on the top of the hill. The feeling was incredible. I was sitting there, with a view of 360º of the city, next to the clouds and above me only sky. That was perfect place to meditate; and that was what I did. The energy around that hill is something really strong.
After meditate and admire the beautiful Edinburgh from the top I started to go down, however I did not take the same way from the beginning, but the opposite side and turned to the right, what allowed me to walk around the other hills, between trees, passing for a couple of lakes, seeing a white and very charming house next to the second lake and, the most important part, enjoying the silence that I did not think would be possible in a capital of a country. On the other hand, this is not a simple capital, is Edinburgh. The magical, Scottish and Celtic Edinburgh.
